Our Retired Breeders
and previous stars!
One of the most rewarding things we do as breeders is search for the perfect loving home where our older dogs
and sometimes young adults can live out their lives in a loving family.
We take that pretty seriously.
They have given so much for us, and we've often spent some tender times together over the years.
Often, they’re the hardest for us to part with!
If you're interested in providing a retiree home, please ask for our "Adult Newfie" questionnaire.
Once it's reviewed satisfactorily, we'll add your name to our list of folks to notify when one becomes available!
Retirees and older dogs/young adult/special needs are placed at a discounted price but
are not typically free of charge.
See Adults/Adolescents Available for current availabilities!

Someday's Life Changes "Ebenezer"
Eb contributed a lot of good to our breeding program and is now with another breeder. We hope to continue his bloodline through his son, Eno, and several of his daughters including Evry, Aribella and Charm!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Eb" is a gorgeous boy! He has a sweet, calm temperament and such a pretty head. Somehow pictures don't do him justice. He carries brown and Landseer! We had met Eb's sire, a huge, beautiful brown boy, years ago and always thought it would be nice to have one of his pups. We were excited and thankful when we had the opportunity to bring Eb here and look forward to seeing his pups grow and develop.
Legend's Little Sis - RETIRED AFTER AN EMERGENCY SPAY AND STAYING HOME WITH US!
We tried twice to retire Little Sis to wonderful homes. Once to NY and once to Chicago. There was no doing. She got depressed and home sick for the farm. So Little Sis is a permanent member of the MFN family!
Born at MFNs, Lil' Sis is Laurel's and Luke's daughter, full younger sister to Legend, one of our all time favorites for looks and temperament! And Little Sis has plenty of both, too! She has her grandfather Rigel's friendly, happy temperament! Lil' Sis weighs 129 pounds and is 28" tall.
Ah, one of the sweetest mama Newfies we've ever had retired and went to her "furever" home with Stephanie and her family in Ashland, VA. Jersie has given us beautiful Newfies and NewfieDoodles over the years, and we'll always be especially grateful to Jersie for our special NewfieDoodle "Kayak!"
October 2022 update:
Rosetta has been such a great addition! She is just as you described her. She is gentle and loving. She has settled nicely into her new routine and has especially taken a liking to my wife, Monica. Her coat is getting thicker and we're still working on gaining weight. She's been to the vet a couple times and is healthy and happy.
My family adores her.
Lonnie's On the Upswing - "LOU"
It is with sadness that we report we lost our beautiful girl LOU and all her pups after we and our vet team did all we could to save them. LOU was a very happy, sweet girl and a trooper to the very end.
She'll be missed.
LOU, daughter of our Lonnie and Luke, is a 3rd generation Moore Family Newfoundland. She's very affectionate, playful, happy, and super friendly. She's 150 pounds and very broad. Pictures somehow don't do her justice - her head looks blockier in person!
Adirondack Joe "Joey"
Retired and living it up in Florida with Brenda, MFNewfieDoodle Toby, and family!
Little did Brenda know how much she needed Joey. After suffering from a stroke not long after taking Joey, he instantly became her mobility support dog and constant guardian. Sweet boy! Well wishes Brenda!
"Joey" is 150 pounds, tall and thick! He is a gorgeous black boy and definitely has the look we're going for as breeders - massive build, blocky head, long, thick coat etc. He's especially sweet and is special to us since we bottle-raised him from a pup, when he lost one of his eyes due to an infection that he developed before it even opened, hence the affectionate nickname "One-Eyed Joe!" His parents are Hope and Rigel (see under "Retired Newfs" below).
Wow! What can I say about Joey… I never knew I would love a big O slobbery teddy bear like I do him! He is my 150 pound big baby that I love so much more than I ever thought I personally could! Was not 100% sure how I would adjust to all the shedding and slobber, to be honest. Rest assured, I don’t even notice it now and am daily cleaning the floors and washing white towels!
A tiny bit of background - we had a service dog, who was a Goldendoodle named Max and he was my baby but he was not my service dog but he was my baby! He died unexpectedly and suddenly last year. I took it extremely hard because animals become part of your family, no matter what anyone says it is hard when they are gone! So last year, we went to see my nephew become a Member of the united states Marine Corps in San Diego California. While we were in San Diego, we met many Newfiedoodle’s, which I had never even heard of! But I loved them and they looked nothing like a Goldendoodle like Max, which is what I wanted. My children and my husband decided I could make the choice for another dog when it was time. After we got moved to Florida, it was time for me to look and just peek at who sells Newfiedoodles and this is when I met the Moore family! The mother Edee and I communicated back-and-forth at first just about dogs and then it seemed like somewhere in between we became friends. I fell in love with their Newfiedoodles and thought the one named “Kutie” sounded and acted just what I thought we wanted and would potentially make a great service dog in the future. Believe it or not at 11 weeks, we put on his little service vest in training on him and he is amazing when we put the vest on!!! Vest off - then he is all puppy! But back to Joey, not Toby the puppy, Joey - that we saw on the Moore website, that they retire older dogs at times. My daughter, who is visually impaired/legally blind and only 15, and I were looking at the retired dogs and they’re all big Newfoundlands! we have never had a shedding dog, nor have we had a huge dog, giant dog, and the largest was my 80 pound Goldendoodle, Max, that passed away but never one that big, BUT when we saw this male six year old Newfoundland, one of their studs, that only had one eye named “one eye Joe “ aka Joey, Kaylee and I thought he was just so handsome and being with only one eye and vision issues, immediately I contacted Edee and asked her that if in the future they decide to retire or rehome Joey we might be interested. The email I got back was the shock and the changing point in our life! She said funny you should ask we are going to have Joey fixed and rehome him now “would you like him?” Wow that is a loaded question… We had just lost my 80 lbs golden doodle and we just lost my daughters 32 year old quarter horse right before we moved in December! so we were getting a new puppy, we still had Max’s brother Kirby, 10 yr old, 60 lbs, Goldendoodle, finally…a rescue 10 yr old Maltese. So…we’re getting a new Newfiedoodle puppy, still have the two other dogs, a bearded dragon and a corn snake…what in the world would we do with 150 pound Newfoundland? Well the answer came very quickly and it was a definite YES - we wanted Joey and we couldn’t wait to meet Joey. So we picked up Joey and Toby in Knoxville Tennessee together! Kaylee and I drove all 4 of us home to Florida! It went surprisingly well but both were a little unsure of where they were but I will say Joey claimed me pretty quickly! At the hotel room that night, Joey would lay by the door as it to say I’ll protect you! But then I woke up and he was laying right beside me on the floor!!! He still was very nervous but after breakfast, the next morning and getting ready to drive some more, we looked around and there he was in front of the door on his back spread eagle and snoring!!!. We knew at that point, he was comfortable with us and he would be just fine. But that still left us with four dogs in a brand new house with no furniture yet. Fast forward to today, I believe it’s been six weeks now and Joey now is learning to walk on a leash, working on making it one house at a time before he sits down and not budge… Lol because when Joey doesn’t want to move, he doesn’t want to move! He gets along famously with our Goldendoodle and Toby the puppy. he’s only had a couple issues with “The Boss” our 7 pound Maltese but I think she learned quickly not to mess with him. Joey now has multiple favorite “Teddies“and they are actually “lamb chop”. Joey loves to lay beside me or behind me, go in the car with me, thankfully we have a large vehicle, but Joey will do just about anything for me. He has made his bed on some gel cooling pads on my entire side of the room! He sleeps with his teddies every night. Even when it stormed he thought one was outside and would not let go of that thought until mommy went out to check in the pouring rain. Then he decided to go out into the pouring rain and play in splash in the puddles and had the best time which then led Toby to follow him outside to play in the water and rain. I don’t know what life would be like without Joey anymore! He has become my big slobbery baby and I love him so much!!! I am sure there are many other stories to tell such as first time getting his head stuck in the trashcan, pulling over the portable trash bag holder from the garage and again getting his head stuck in that, drinking out of the toilet and thinking it’s his personal water dish not my bathroom, sticks his head in the dryer looking for the wall balls I put in to dry the clothes, but he is the most relaxed gentle baby I know! I wouldn’t trade him for the world just like any of my other babies, would not trade any for the world but Joey is one special guy, as is Toby! We love both our fur children from the Moore family more than I could ever talk about or even begin to express!
Jackson
If you ever visited our farm over the years, you were likely greeted by big ole' sweet Jackson. One of our first sires before we even had a website, Jackson's gentleness and loyalty earned our affection as well as his permanent retirement here with us. Never one to like being inside, Jackson spent his days milling around the yard and farm, lazing under the shade tree or in the fresh snow, and quietly enjoyed the family's company. He especially loved our oldest daughter who faithfully cared for him until his last breath.
To all those who have lost a Newfie or other beloved pet to old age, we sympathize.
Jackson is greatly missed.
"Rigel" of the Titanic - Recently retired and home with Hannah and Diego in SC!
See Newfie News for the scoop! WE MISS YOU RIGEL!
Rigel is a beautiful 150# Irish Spotted, giant "puppy at heart!" Everyone who sees him in person says the pictures just don't do him justice and that he seems much BIGGER in real life! He is 29.5" tall at the shoulder. Rigel (pronounced "rī'jəl") is named after a Newfoundland dog who was instrumental in guiding a boatload of survivors to the gangway of the Carpathia after the Titanic sank. Read more here: http://www.ncanewfs.org/history/pages/rigel.html#.Vrzro1JTet9
We were so honored to get Rigel as a puppy from Art and Susan Porter, breeders in TN. After serving Moore Family Newfoundlands for many years as one of our first main sires, getting us started on the right foot in health, conformation, and classic Newfie temperament, Rigel joins the Bublitz and Gomez families and granddaughters Winnieford and Matilda! We are so grateful to Hannah, Diego, and Michael for keeping us updated and even bringing Rigel back for a visit from time to time! His legacy continues through many offspring here at the farm! Several colleagues call her their best friend and come over just to snuggle with her. She's an incredible dog!
UPDATE FROM MARCH 30, 2019:
Had my horse trainer over today to work with me and Mason. Mason is so smart! He picked up the walking with me without pulling me along like a freight train very quickly. He will sit and come even off leash most of the time. After training I turned him loose with Cloud while I drove the Kabota. They ran back and forth and played, but stayed near me. He is a joy!
Linda called us after losing her beloved adult male Pyrenees. Cloud, her female Pyrenees, was very sad and needed a doggie friend. Mason to the rescue! Linda says, "Mason is doing great. Loves walking in the woods. Cloud has come back to life and has regained her energy. They both slept in the house last night with no problems. Mason is a wonderfully affectionate dog and we just love him."
Loves walking in the woods. Cloud has come back to life and has regained her energy. They both slept in the house last night with no problems. Mason is a wonderfully affectionate dog and we just love him."
"Walter" of Eagle's nest
Mason and Rosie's son, Walter is a sweet boy with excellent hips and health and served MFN very well, giving us gorgeous healthy pups! Walter left us to join another breeder as we've added fresh new bloodlines to our program.
Forestview's "Lucy" Now Home with Megan in VA
Lucy is the matron of our "L" line. So all our mama dogs whose name begin with "L" came from Lucy! She is now retired and enjoying her new home with Megan in VA where she awaits an upcoming sister retiree!
We miss you, Lucy! 💖
Update from 2-15-22
Lucy has been enjoying our new patio, she loves laying on the cool pavement and watching the other pups walk by. 😊 When we took her to her new vet, he couldn’t believe that she was almost ten! He said, “If there wasn’t a piece of paper telling me she was 9.5, I would never have guessed it”.
Just a couple of Lucy pictures! It makes me laugh how she’ll lay on a dog bed of any size! She even tries to curl up in the mini dog bed we have for our bunny. 😅 She finally got a bed plenty big for her at Christmas time and she is loving it.
Update from 10-11-21
Lucy is doing wonderful and enjoying the cool weather starting coming in! Here's some pictures from our latest trip to the beach, last weekend 🙂 She steals the spotlight whenever we take her up there, everybody that meets Lucy LOVES her! She is doing really great for 9.5 years old, she's a bit slower but when she gets excited to go for a walk she still has a bounce in her step!
Lucy is spayed and gets along with all dogs 🙂 Big, small, high energy, low energy (even a couple encounters with a mean dog in the neighborhood), nothing phases this girl! My mom has three bernese mountain dogs that Lucy is around a lot and we call her "queen" of that pack but she mostly just naps around them haha We also fostered a few dogs and Lucy was such a great guide to them and helped each one of them grow their confidence as they came from some pretty horrible situations (a long winded answer to the question but we're just so proud of our pup!!).
I have told everyone, literally everyone that I'm getting a new puppy from you guys. I have already been shopping. I wanted to send you guys a pic that I snapped of Jess this morning. This is her favorite place. This creek is walking distance from our house. She adores water!
Claira is a beautiful solid brown color, about 100 lbs, with a sweet, affectionate, intelligent disposition. She is Cystinuria clear and "dry-mouth". She has gorgeous (almost human-like) eyes and makes great eye contact!
