Colors and patterns in the Newfie world can be tricky to get the hang of at first! We'd like to help others get familiar with the beautiful colors and patterns produced in the Newfoundland.
Irish Spotted

"Irish spotted" Newfoundlands are a solid color with white markings on the chest, paws, and oftentimes face and tip of tail. This partially comes from the Newfoundland's historic predecessor, the Saint John's Water Dog. Their coat is usually sleek and easily managed!

Landseer

Landseer Newfoundlands are white with spots and patterns of solid color. Their coat is light and fluffy.

Brown
(Formerly MFN's Abby - first brown girl here!)
Brown Newfoundlands are solid brown with some having white spots on the chest. The brown will oftentimes have either red or blonde highlights to it. Their coat type can tend to be a bit more dry, yet so fluffy!

One of the favorite colors here at Moore Family Newfoundlands is black. Plain and simple, yet sharp and beautiful, the black Newfoundlands are probably the easiest to groom! Their coat is usually sleek and shiny making it easier to manage.

Gray

Gray is a rare color for a Newfoundland. So far, we have only owned 1 in our years of Newfie raising. Their unique coat is black "diluted", and can be darker or lighter depending on their genetics.

Last but not least. Beige, which is brown "diluted". It is a rare and stunning color for a Newfie! Our first ones were born from Rosie and Tommy in April 2019.
