How to Make One Yours
Our puppies are raised with lots of attention from both the older and younger members of our family - they will be very used to children! Your pup will be vaccinated, de-wormed, micro-chipped, vet-checked, and will come with a 1-year genetic health warranty, which can be read below and is subject to be modified at any time. Each puppy is AKC-registerable. This means you will be given the AKC registration form and will be encouraged to submit it to AKC once puppy is in your possession. Our price ranges are listed below and include LIMITED (pet) registration only, except for NewfieDoodles, which are not AKC registrable due to being a "Designer Breed." All Newfie puppies are sold with limited (pet) AKC registration which means they do not have breeding or showing rights. Full AKC registration available upon approval on select puppies for an additional fee. Prices are subject to change due to demand, colors, and availability. Please check current pricing below. The price is always disclosed before a commitment is made to a particular puppy.
How do I purchase a Moore Family Newfoundland?
1. First, please consider the commitment and its cost, discuss it with your family and vet, and do your research. The initial price of a puppy is simply the beginning of a lifetime of costly expenses.
*2024 PRICE RANGE (varies from litter to litter and sometimes within a litter and are subject to change as needed):
Newfoundland $2500-$3500 limited (pet) AKC only
NewfieDoodle $2500-$3500 (no AKC - designer breed)
Spanish Mastiff - Visit http://www.greenpasturesspanishmastiffs.com/.
2. If you decide you're interested in one of our puppies, please contact us for more information or to indicate your interest in a specific puppy or litter. Please see our PAST LITTERS pages to see lots of pictures of our grown up puppies! It's the best way to get an idea of how a particular Newfie's offspring is turning out! WE ACCEPT DEPOSITS FOR OUR RESERVATIONS LISTS but do temporarily close them from time to time in order to keep them from growing too long.
If you are a long-term planner and prefer to secure a puppy for a particular time-frame within a 12-month period, this option could be beneficial to you and could help you get your puppy of choice at just the right time, ideally. A satisfactory questionnaire (below) must first be submitted, then we will send you a detailed Paypal invoice for the $200 non-refundable deposit to reserve a spot on our reservations list. Each time we have a litter available, our reservations list is THE FIRST TO BE NOTIFIED. Puppies are then chosen in the order of deposits received. If puppy of your choice is not available when it's your turn, or if you choose to skip that particular litter, the next person will have the opportunity to choose, and your name will be "bumped up" for the next litter. Once everyone on the reservations list has had opportunity to consider the puppies, all remaining pups are then made available to our general email list and on our website. If a person on the list reserves a particular puppy then has to back out of the commitment for some reason, his/her name is either removed or bumped to the bottom of the list for a future litter.
ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND ARE GOOD FOR ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE IT WAS PLACED. NO EXCEPTIONS. PLEASE CAREFULLY CONSIDER ALL ASPECTS BEFORE PLACING A DEPOSIT.
3. Read our one-year limited genetic health REPLACEMENT warranty below (subject to change at any time), and submit your answers to our puppy questionnaire below. A completed questionnaire is required and can be read below. We prioritize folks who have submitted questionnaires, so feel free to copy and paste it into the body of an email and send it to us: [email protected]. Or request that we email you a copy.
4. Once we have satisfactorily reviewed your answers to our puppy questionnaire and have checked any references we feel we need to, we will send you a detailed Paypal invoice for the non-refundable $200 deposit to reserve the pup of your choice.
PUPPIES ARE RESERVED BY DEPOSIT ONLY. PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER A PUPPY RESERVED UNTIL A DEPOSIT HAS BEEN PAID. The deposit is then applied to the total price of puppy. Prices vary from litter to litter and sometimes within a litter. Prices are always disclosed before a commitment is made to a particular puppy.
*Prices are subject to change. Please refer to specific litter pages and puppy announcements for pricing.
***FOR BIO-SECURITY REASONS AND FOR THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF ALL OUR DOGS (young and old), OUR AKC INSPECTOR HAS ADVISED THAT WE DO NOT ALLOW VISITORS. FOR THE SAME REASON, WE NEVER ALLOW OTHER DOGS TO VISIT OUR PREMISES.
IF VISITING A FACILITY AND ALLOWING A PUPPY TO CHOOSE YOU IS IMPORTANT, WE UNDERSTAND AND ARE HAPPY TO REFER YOU TO A SMALLER HOBBY BREEDER. JUST ASK!
5. Schedule pick-up or delivery MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. Our pups generally go home around 8 weeks of age but may be delayed due to a number of factors. It is very important that all parties remain flexible due to the delicate nature of young puppies. You will be sent a general email entitled "Puppy Notes" before your puppy comes home, with information about preparing for your puppy as well as recommendations for
local accommodations and dining. LOCAL PICK-UP IN BIG STONE GAP OR DRYDEN VA IS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY BETWEEN 9:00 A.M. AND 5:30 P.M. PLEASE ARRANGE YOUR SCHEDULE ACCORDINGLY. We are typically able to drive 15-30 minutes out to meet for no extra charge.

ALL PUPPIES MUST EITHER BE PICKED UP PERSONALLY NEARBY or depending upon distance, we can meet you somewhere in-between. See delivery/meeting fees below. PLEASE TAKE THE DISTANCE INTO ACCOUNT BEFORE RESERVING YOUR PUPPY! It's rare that we can't work out a way to get puppy to you, but distance does need to be considered!

6. Once puppy is home, feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. We ask that puppy's first vet visit take place within 5 days of going home and that the vet's report be sent to us immediately. If no issues are reported, we will assume all is well.
In the event that your puppy ever needs to be re-homed, we ask to be notified first. We ask that our puppies never be placed in a shelter or with a rescue. We will always take our puppies back and find a good home for them if needed! We actually have folks on a waiting list for returned puppies (but thankfully rarely have returned pups to offer). WE DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON. NO EXCEPTIONS. SEE REPLACEMENT POLICY BELOW.
Additional notes: It's super important to us that we keep up with our puppies through their life-time so we can follow the health and well-being of the lines we've worked hard to produce. If at any point the new owner can longer keep said pup or adult, we ask to be notified first before any attempt at re-homing. We can often help with the re-homing process by sending a pre-qualified family or by bringing puppy back to our farm. We keep a running list of folks interested in returned puppies and adult dogs. We consider it a re"fur"bish program, taking back our dogs, catching them up on vet visits, vaccines, de-wormings, and any socialization/training that may be lacking in order to place them in appropriate loving homes that are aware of their history and can keep us updated on their health and progress for the remainder of their lifetime! It's part of what we do! Please inquire if interested in giving a re"fur"bished dog a home.
PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED AS YOUR PUPPY GROWS! WE REALLY ENJOY SEEING OUR PUPPIES AS ADULTS AND HEARING ABOUT THEIR TEMPERAMENTS! ANY ALLERGIES OR HEALTH ISSUES ARE ALSO TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION WITH OUR BREEDING PROGRAM.

Thank you for your interest in our puppies! As breeders, we feel it is our responsibility to provide wonderful homes for our pups, as well as wonderful pups for their homes. Every puppy family looks different, and your answers help us get to know you a little better and help us steer you toward the right breed and bloodline. Please note that the submission of this questionnaire in no way guarantees that you will get a puppy. It simply aids us in placing our puppies in the appropriate homes and is required in the event that a puppy is selected and purchased. For more information on the purchasing process, please visit our "HOW TO BUY A PUPPY" page!

1. Which breed are you interested in - Newfoundland, NewfieDoodle, or Spanish Mastiff?
2. Do you want a puppy for a PET or for BREEDING?
Note: Our Newfie pups come automatically with LIMITED (PET ONLY) AKC registration and SPAYING/NEUTERING IS REQUIRED AFTER 12 MONTHS.
NewfieDoodles are a designer breed and do not come with AKC registration BUT ARE REQUIRED TO BE SPAYED/NEUTERED.

Do you have a fenced yard area? If yes, what type of fence?
6. Do you have children in your household (or children who visit regularly)?

7. Do you agree to continually supervise children and /or senior adults around your dog so they do not accidentally get knocked down or harmed and so that your puppy remains safe?
8. Do you have other pets?
If so, what breed, gender, and age?
9. Have you ever owned the breed you’re inquiring about?
10. Do you have a preference of color or gender?
From a particular dam or sire?
11. What kind of temperament are you looking for?
12. What type of area do you live in - Rural/Suburban/urban?
13. How would you obtain your puppy if you bought one?
Would you be interested in personal delivery or meeting partway (additional fee applies)?
**FOR BIO-SECURITY REASONS AND FOR THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF ALL OUR DOGS (young and old), OUR AKC INSPECTOR HAS ADVISED THAT WE DO NOT ALLOW VISITORS. FOR THE SAME REASON, WE NEVER ALLOW OTHER DOGS TO VISIT OUR PREMISES.

14. Where or from whom did you hear about Moore Family Newfoundlands?
15. The consistent use of multiple steps can adversely affect a giant breed’s growing joints. Do you agree to limit the pup’s use of stairs?
16. The initial expense of purchasing a giant breed puppy can be quite an investment. But, it also needs to be understood that the expense of caring for any pet - especially a large breed - is a life-time commitment and should be anticipated and planned for accordingly. In addition to routine vet expenses, other COSTLY expenses do inevitably arise due to factors NOT COVERED IN OUR WARRANTY: parasite/worm prevention and/or treatment, possible surgeries (eye issues, hernia, spay/neuter, etc.). We do our very best to ensure that we provide a happy, healthy puppy, and would certainly inform you if any health issues are discovered prior to the pup leaving our home. But we in no way guarantee a perfect animal. Giant breeds (as well as other breeds) do sometimes develop conditions, allergies, illnesses, parasites/worms, digestive issues, or other problems that are not covered under our 1 year genetic health replacement warranty (see below). Please carefully select the sire and dam for your puppy and note any health/hip clearances. Although pups may turn out show quality and breed standard, we do not guarantee either.
***Important! Research indicates that dogs spayed or neutered before the age of 12 months may have twice the chance of developing hip dysplasia. For this reason, spaying/neutering before 12 months nullifies coverage of hip dysplasia. https://www.ucdavis.edu/news/golden-retriever-study-suggests-neutering-affects-dog-health
Since puppy won't stay a puppy long, special needs of a growing pup and eventually a "senior" dog must be considered. In spite of efforts made by any breeder, large breed dogs are especially prone to joint issues, especially later in life. FOR THIS REASON, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT PUPPY BUYERS CONSIDER INVESTING IN PET HEALTH INSURANCE FROM A REPUTABLE COMPANY, SUCH AS EMBRACE PET INSURANCE OR AKC PET INSURANCE. JOINT SUPPLEMENTS ARE ALSO HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. It is recommended that potential puppy buyers research thoroughly before deciding a Newfoundland is the breed of their choice.
Newfoundland disease statistics can be read on the OFA web-site here: https://www.ofa.org/diseases/breed-statistics#detail.
Do you agree to commit to any and all financial obligations involved with giving the appropriate care to a dog while it is in your possession and agree that Moore Family Newfoundlands will in no way be responsible for reimbursements of any kind once puppy is in your possession?
17. Do you agree to contact Moore Family Newfoundlands in the event that you would need to re-home your dog for any reason and to NEVER PLACE THIS PUP WITH A RESCUE OR A SHELTER?
We can help in the re-homing process and like to keep up with our puppies for their life-time. NO REFUNDS, BUT WE WILL ALWAYS BE HAPPY TO TAKE OUR PUPPIES BACK FOR ANY REASON!
18. Although we consider such traits as temperament as we select a breeding pair, and we use this questionnaire to try to match our puppies with appropriate families, we can not guarantee that your puppy will have the exact temperament that you might be expecting. Also, please keep in mind that having a new puppy requires a lot of extra time, attention, discipline, and training as he or she grows into adulthood.
Do you agree to provide adequate care and to appropriately train your puppy from the potential inconveniences of puppyhood (potty accidents, chewing items, etc.) into the potential inconveniences and special needs of adulthood and seniority, including but not limited to regular exercise and grooming?
19. A new puppy can be quite an adjustment for family members and any existing pets you may have.
Do you agree that you have considered your family members and your other pets in the decision to purchase a puppy?
20. What is the name and phone number of your veterinarian?
(Before submitting this questionnaire, please give your vet a quick call to let them know we may possibly contact him or her for a reference).
21. Have you read and agreed to the conditions of our 1-year genetic health replacement warranty on our web-site?
PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR GENETIC HEALTH REPLACEMENT WARRANTY IS SUBJECT TO REVISING AT ANY TIME. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER TO READ IT THOROUGHLY BEFORE SIGNING AT TIME OF PURCHASE.
22. What is your time-frame for obtaining a puppy?
23. If the puppy of your preference is not currently available, are you interested in reserving a spot on our reservations list (if open) by placing a $200 non-refundable deposit via PayPal, or in being notified when a list opens if it is currently closed?
Please note ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND ARE GOOD FOR 12 MONTHS. (More information on that process here: https://www.moorefamilynewfoundlands.com/how-to-buy-a-puppyour-warranty.html)
24. Do you want to be notified when we have an adult, adolescent, retiree, or special needs puppy available?
If yes, Please specify which:

If not, is someone in your household capable of helping you?
Please consider that puppy will grow quickly! Training is key!
26. Have you ever purchased a Newfoundland, NewfieDoodle, or Spanish Mastiff from another breeder? If so, who?
27. Last but not least, are you aware that most Newfoundlands and Spanish Mastiffs drool and shed excessively? (NewfieDoodles - not so much if any!)
Thank you for your time. We will respond to you once we have adequately reviewed this questionnaire. If a puppy is purchased from us, this questionnaire will become a part of the documents that we file. Please note, we reserve the right to refuse any sale. Thank you for your understanding!

25. Are you physically capable of handling a large (120 - 200 LB) adult giant breed?
Our replacement warranty below will be emailed prior to purchase and must be signed and returned to MFN.

DOG’S NAME: DOB: AKC #
All items covered under this warranty are by replacement only, with a comparable puppy within a reasonable amount of time. NO REFUNDS OR REIMBURSEMENTS OF ANY KIND SHALL BE GIVEN AT ANY TIME, IN PART OR IN FULL, FOR ANY REASON. NO EXCEPTIONS. Warranty is between said buyer and said breeder only and is not transferrable.
Breeder guarantees said dog has had proper care to date and is in good health at the time of purchase, to the best of the breeder's and breeder’s vet's knowledge. Record of vet health check-up is provided with this puppy, guaranteeing his/her current health at the time of departure from breeder's possession. It is required that buyer take puppy to vet of choice within 5 days of arrival and that the breeder be sent puppy’s vet check report and be notified of any health issues identified by email immediately. NO NEWS MEANS PUPPY CHECKED OUT WELL BY BUYER’S VET.
Breeder warranties named puppy in the case of SEVERE GENETIC CRIPPLING HIP DYSPLASIA OR TERMINAL HEART CONDITION diagnosed within the first year of puppy's life that would make the puppy unable to function as a pet. WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER ANY OTHER ISSUE.
In the event of suspected SEVERE GENETIC CRIPPLING HIP DYSPLASIA OR TERMINAL HEART CONDITION RESULTING IN DEATH OR EUTHANASIA before the first birthday, buyer must:
1. Notify breeder by email immediately.
2. Take said dog to veterinarian for appropriate diagnostic testing immediately.
3. Submit to breeder all veterinarian X-rays, documentation, and report from vet stating that, without a doubt, the puppy has SEVERE/TERMINAL GENETIC HIP DYSPLASIA (See #5) OR SEVERE/TERMINAL HEART CONDITION. Breeder’s veterinarian will review records and discuss with buyer's veterinarian. X-ray, tests, and all vet costs are the buyer’s responsibility. BREEDER'S VET AND BREEDER MUST BE GIVEN PERMISSION TO SPEAK WITH BUYER'S VET CONCERNING ANY ISSUES.
FAILURE TO SUBMIT REQUESTED RECORDS OR GRANT PERMISSION TO SPEAK WITH BUYER'S VET NULLIFIES THIS AGREEMENT.
FAILURE OF BUYER’S VET TO DISCUSS THE SITUATION WITH BREEDER NULLIFIES THIS AGREEMENT.
4. In the event that two unaffiliated vets (the buyer's and the breeder's) agree that hip or heart diagnosis is SEVERE/TERMINAL/GENETIC, puppy must be returned to the breeder in good condition, other than the specified problem, at the buyer’s expense. Breeder understands the difficulty in parting with a beloved pet, but this is simply the requirement put forth in this warranty which is agreed upon by buyer's signature at time of purchase and by submitting the original questionnaire by email. Once puppy is returned, the buyer will then qualify for a replacement puppy of comparable qualities and value, not necessarily from the same parents, and when available. All transportation costs and vet expenses of the dog are the buyer’s responsibility. Breeder assumes NO responsibility for any veterinary medical expenses or medications once puppy leaves breeder's premises.
5. In the event of suspected hip dysplasia, an OFA report of SEVERE (congenital, not as a result of environment or injury) MUST be submitted to breeder. All testing is the financial responsibility of buyer. BREEDER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY VET/SURGERY/MEDICATION COSTS WHATSOEVER FOR ANY REASON AT ANY TIME. ***Important! Research indicates that dogs spayed or neutered before the age of 12 months may have twice the chance of developing hip dysplasia. For this reason, spaying/neutering before 12 months nullifies coverage of hip dysplasia in stated puppy.
If buyer does not comply with all these conditions set forth in this warranty (by NOT following steps 1-5 above or by refusing to return puppy), buyer acknowledges Moore Family Newfoundlands Genetic Health Replacement Warranty to become null and void. Breeder will then be released from any further obligations.
This guarantee does not cover worms or parasites, including but not limited to giardiasis and coccidiosis.
