usually not the fault of the dog.
We catch them up on grooming, socializing, vet visits, etc. 
and place them in loving pet homes.
We like to think of it as our "reFURbish" program!

Other times, we'll feel the need to downsize and offer breeder quality
older puppies, retirees,  or young adults.
Some are health and hip tested.

You need to add a caution, if you get a Moore Family retiree, if you sit down, they will demand that you pet them and will not take no or you stopping the petting for an answer.   Be prepared to be overwhelmingly loved by this dog.  If she acts like Rigel and Lottie, while you pet them, they stare into your eyes and they gaze into your soul."  ​

Finding great homes for our retirees is important to us.  They've given so much for us and our puppy families!  They deserve to enjoy their retirement years in a loving pre-approved home!

One of the most rewarding things we do as breeders is search for the perfect loving home where our older dogs and sometimes young adults or special needs pups can live out their lives in a loving family.  We take that pretty seriously.

ADULT/RETIREE/ADOLESCENT/SPECIAL NEEDS QUESTIONNAIRE
As breeders, we feel it is our responsibility to provide wonderful homes for our retirees and adult dogs.   Often, they’re the hardest for us to part with!  Please note that our older dogs do not come with a 1-year guarantee, but some have already passed their hip testing to be part of our breeding program, unless otherwise stated, such as in the case of a special need (see question #22).

1.  Do you want a dog for a pet or for breeding?  Retirees and special needs dogs are NOT AVAILABLE for breeding purposes and come with a spay/neuter contract if they are still intact.

2.  Will your puppy be inside or outside?

3.  What type of yard or outside area will you provide your dog? Is it fenced?  If so, what type of fence?

4.  Do you have children in your household (or children who visit regularly)?  If so, what is the age range?

5.  Do you agree to continually supervise children and /or senior adults around a dog so they do not accidentally get knocked down or harmed and so that your dog remains safe?

13.  Do you have a one-story or multiple-story home?       The consistent use of multiple steps can adversely affect a giant breed’s growing joints.   Do you agree to limit the use of stairs?

14.  Do you agree to commit to any and all financial obligations involved with giving the appropriate care, including regularly grooming, to a dog while it is in your possession? _____________

18.  Will your dog be mainly a pet or a working livestock guardian dog or service/therapy dog?

19.  Are you aware that retirees, adults,  and special needs dogs are transferred “AS IS” with no warranty written or implied?  If not neutered or spayed,  you’ll be asked to agree to arrange that at an appropriate age.

20.  Do you agree to first notify Moore Family Newfoundlands in the event you can no longer keep your dog?   We can often help in the re-homing process and will always take our dogs back for any reason.   

21.  Do you agree that you will never place your dog with a shelter or rescue?
